Make a start
One step at a time.
3 steps
Start with the synthetic worked example or other non-sensitive inputs. Run one prompt at a time in your chosen AI tool. Replace any bracketed placeholders with the requested material, check each reply, and supply the source or earlier outputs that step needs. Paste them again if the tool lacks that context.
Start with the synthetic example, then adapt each prompt to your task.
01
Open a text assistant and try the example
For a concrete starter route, open https://chatgpt.com and choose New chat. Sign in if that service requires it for your access. You can also use another text assistant you already have. Copy the entire prompt below (the instructions to paste), including the sample input, into its message box and send it. No upload or image generation is needed. Expect setup instructions, three shot briefs and a reset list. The wording may differ from the example; the constraints should not. If it only explains the task, ask it to produce the finished result using the supplied input.
Your starting prompt
A still life is an arrangement of objects photographed or drawn without people. Write a three-shot still-life plan using only the listed room, objects and equipment. For each shot, give object placement, camera position, the intended visual emphasis and a simple review check. Include setup and a reset list. Do not give model-specific camera controls or claim photographs were taken.
Use this complete made-up practice input:
Available setup: A stable table beside a window with soft daylight; plain cream wall; phone camera; one matte green mug, one pear, a beige cloth and a white sheet of paper.
Project: Three original photographs exploring “quiet morning.”
Constraints: Use daylight only; keep all objects stable on the table; no ladders, standing on furniture, hot liquids, additional gear or purchase suggestions. Phone can be held from seated or normal standing height. No people, brand labels or private room details in frame.
Shots should differ through composition and distance, not by adding props.
Deliverable: A written shoot plan only.
Return the finished result. Keep it fictional and do not add claims about real people, products or events.
02
Check, correct and save
Read the response beside the original input. Find three different compositions using only the supplied objects. Check all camera positions are reachable from the floor and all objects stay stable. Verify each shot has a visible review criterion rather than a promise of professional quality. If a check fails, paste the correction prompt below in the same conversation. Check the revised result yourself, then copy the version you want into your own notes or document.
Your starting prompt
Check your previous result against this original input:
Check these requirements one by one:
- Find three different compositions using only the supplied objects.
- Check all camera positions are reachable from the floor and all objects stay stable.
- Verify each shot has a visible review criterion rather than a promise of professional quality.
Quote each problem, explain the smallest repair, and return a complete corrected version. If there is no problem, say which checks you applied. Do not claim that your own review proves quality or audience response.

Optional: use your own material
Open a new chat. Copy the prompt below and replace [PASTE YOUR INPUT HERE] with available room, objects, equipment and safe camera-position limits. Use material you own or may use and leave out private details. The output limits written in this prompt stay in force; change a limit here too if you want a different one. Send the whole message. Expect the same kind of written result with your new material. Check it against this new input and these limits, not the sample’s names or numbers. If it differs, describe the exact mismatch and ask for a complete correction before saving.
Your starting prompt
Plan three still-life photographs using only the objects, space and equipment I list below. A still life arranges objects without people. Give placement, camera position, intended emphasis and a review check for each shot, plus setup and reset lists. Keep positions stable and within my supplied access limits. Do not invent model-specific controls or claim photos exist.
If an essential detail is missing or two requirements conflict, ask me before filling the gap.
MY INPUT
[PASTE YOUR INPUT HERE]
Optional: improve the result
Compare a controlled variation
Use a small real experiment to refine the look. Keep the first version so you can compare the change. This extension uses the worked example. Return to that example chat, or paste its input and your checked example answer into a new chat first. Do not apply its sample values unchanged to your own input.
Advanced prompt
Choose shot 1 and plan two versions that differ only in the pear-to-mug distance. State what stays fixed and what to compare in the resulting images. Do not claim either version will be better before seeing it.
Use the original input and result in this conversation. If either is missing, ask me to paste it before continuing.

01 / The starting point
Synthetic input
Made-up example for practice. All people, places and events are invented.
Copies text only. For image or file tasks, use the source files named in the steps too.
Worked example written for this guide; it is not a recording of an AI run.
Setup:
Clear a small area of the stable table and check the frame does not include private room details. Place the beige cloth on the table. Use the window's existing soft light; turn the arrangement rather than adding equipment. The white paper can sit on the table near the shadow side if it visibly softens the shadow, but it is optional.
Shot 1 — Space to begin
Placement: Mug near the lower left of the arrangement; pear a little behind and to its right. Keep a large area of plain wall visible.
Camera: Seated or comfortably held near table level, far enough back to include both objects and open space.
Emphasis: A small arrangement within a quiet frame.
Review: Both objects are distinct; the pear does not merge with the mug's edge; no private details appear.
Shot 2 — Shapes in conversation
Placement: Move the pear beside the mug with a clear gap. Let one fold of cloth point between them.
Camera: From normal standing height, angled down; remain on the floor.
Emphasis: Round pear, mug opening and cloth line.
Review: The mug opening is visible and the gap between objects remains clear.
Shot 3 — One small detail
Placement: Keep the mug still and bring the pear close beside it, without balancing either object.
Camera: Move closer from a comfortable position; frame the mug handle and part of the pear.
Emphasis: Matte surface beside the pear's uneven texture.
Review: The intended detail looks sharp at normal viewing size; crop edges look deliberate.
Reset list: Return the pear and mug, fold the cloth, remove the paper and restore the table. Save any photographs you actually take separately; this plan contains no generated or captured images.
These checks use the worked example and its particular facts. With your own material, check your actual names, numbers, sources and rules; do not reuse the sample’s values as the answer.
Unsaved checks stay in this tab and reset when you reload. If you choose Save guide, its current example checkmarks are kept in this browser when storage is available.
!
A few things to watch for.
Changing every variable makes it hard to learn which choice helped. Keep the objects and light fixed while comparing compositions.
Automatic camera processing and changing daylight can affect color. Review the actual photographs rather than treating the plan as proof.
