Make a start

One step at a time.

3 steps

Start with the synthetic worked example or other non-sensitive inputs. Run one prompt at a time in your chosen AI tool. Replace any bracketed placeholders with the requested material, check each reply, and supply the source or earlier outputs that step needs. Paste them again if the tool lacks that context.

Start with the synthetic example, then adapt each prompt to your task.

01

Try the complete example

Open a text AI chat you already have permission to use. Paste the whole prompt below, from TASK through END INPUT, and send it. The input is source material; do not paste the illustrative Output as an answer to imitate. Expect A complete original three-stage puzzle pack with player sheets, a separate host key, dependency map and reset checklist. If you receive advice instead of the result, ask for the complete requested result from the supplied input.

Your starting prompt
TASK
Produce all copyable player sheets and envelope fronts, then a clearly separate host key, three-level hints per stage, dependency map and reset manifest. Preserve exact mechanics and release gates. Check that each stage can be solved from currently released information and keep printing/human trial unperformed.

INPUT
Complete original adult tabletop paper-trail mechanics. Three numbered envelopes, no physical locks, no internet, no timed scoring. The assistant supplies copyable text only, not printed sheets. Players keep earlier released sheets and their answers. Host releases envelope 1 at start, envelope 2 after RBG and envelope 3 after 413. Compare answers ignoring spaces and letter case only; do not change order or digits. Finish after ORCHARD.
Stage 1 includes three written cards: Red=1 dot, Blue=2 dots, Green=3 dots. Order by increasing dot count and take first letters of colour names. Show colour words and numeric dot counts so coloured printing is unnecessary.
Stage 2 supplies R→4, B→1, G→3. Convert the previous three-letter answer from left to right into digits.
Stage 3 supplies lookup entries 413=ORCHARD,431=HARBOR,143=HILL. Use the exact previous three-digit answer to choose one entry.
Add an original gentle narrative wrapper without changing mechanics. Return full envelope-front and player-sheet text, a clearly separated host-only key, three escalating hints per stage, dependency map, reset manifest and an unperformed adult cold trial (a person who has not seen the key). Do not hide the key in player material or claim printing/playtesting happened.
END INPUT
02

Check and correct

Solve from player text: increasing dots gives Red/Blue/Green → RBG; mapping gives 413; exact lookup gives ORCHARD. Envelopes release in order 1 → answer RBG → 2 → answer 413 → 3. Each needed clue is available before use. Keep the host key/hints out of player copies. An adult cold trial and a reset trial must happen before claiming the trail plays well. Compare with the unchanged source yourself. If anything differs, use the correction prompt, then recheck the complete replacement before saving.

Your starting prompt
Check the answer in this sample chat against the complete INPUT above. Quote each mismatch and its source, then return a complete corrected replacement. If source or answer is missing, ask for it. Do not describe a suggested human trial as completed.
03

Use your own source instead

Open a new chat and copy the prompt below. Replace every bracketed field with your own permitted non-sensitive material, or write unknown. Change the source names, counts, dates and rules together wherever they occur. Expect a complete result using those new values. Compare each source link and calculation with your new input, using the review instructions in this prompt. If a fact or rule is wrong, quote the mismatch and source and ask for a complete corrected replacement; keep essential unknowns held rather than borrowing the practice values.

Your starting prompt
Build a complete original adult paper-puzzle chain from my supplied mechanics, exact keys, props and stage-release rules. Return all player sheets and envelope/front labels, then a separate spoiler-labeled host key, escalating hints, dependency map and reset checklist. Include every clue needed at each stage without using unreleased information or outside knowledge. Derive stage count, outputs and release gates from MY INPUT; hold inconsistent or ambiguous mechanics rather than silently altering a key. Independently solve each stage from released text, trace the unlock order and check player copies for answer leakage. Add an unperformed cold-player and reset trial. Do not claim printing or successful playtesting.

MY INPUT
Complete original puzzle mechanics and keys: [replace with your source or rule]
Stage-release conditions: [replace with your source or rule]
Allowed props: [replace with your source or rule]
Player and host information boundary: [replace with your source or rule]
Hint and reset requirements: [replace with your source or rule]

Use only MY INPUT for facts, quantities, names, dates and permissions. Ask for missing essential facts or conflicting rules instead of guessing. Creative invention is allowed only where this task and my boundaries permit it. Return the actual complete requested result, a separate unknown/hold list and the source-specific review described above. Do not reuse practice-example facts. Keep this a draft; do not publish, contact people, book, buy or change another service.
Optional: improve the result

Try a missing mapping

Optional, sample-only extension. Return to the practice chat, or paste this guide’s complete practice input and your checked answer into a new chat. Check that an incomplete clue blocks progress instead of inviting a guess. This does not apply unchanged to your own source.

Advanced prompt
In a disposable copy of the sample, remove G→3 from the stage 2 player sheet while leaving the host key unchanged. Explain exactly why the player can no longer derive the full answer, identify the resulting release blocker and restore the missing clue in a complete corrected player sheet. Do not treat guessing from the host key as a valid solve. If the complete sample input or answer is missing, ask me to paste it. Keep new variants separate from the original result.
Show, then try

The intended result

Illustrative output
ILLUSTRATIVE AUTHORED OUTPUT
Written for this guide; no consumer AI execution or real-world trial is claimed.

PLAYER MATERIAL ONLY — COPY THIS SECTION SEPARATELY
Envelope fronts:
1 — The Paper Garden: Start. Host gives this envelope first.
2 — The Paper Garden: Next page. Keep with the host until released.
3 — The Paper Garden: Final page. Keep with the host until released.

ENVELOPE 1 PLAYER SHEET
THE PAPER GARDEN: THE THREE SEEDS
A paper gardener has left three seed cards. Find their order to request the next page.
Card: Green — 3 dots (● ● ●)
Card: Red — 1 dot (●)
Card: Blue — 2 dots (● ●)
Put the cards in increasing order of dot count, smallest first. Take the first letter of each colour name in that order. Write the three-letter answer: ______.
Tell the host your answer. Keep this sheet and your answer for the next stage. You may ask the host for a hint; there is no penalty or time limit.

ENVELOPE 2 PLAYER SHEET
THE PAPER GARDEN: THE GATE LABEL
Use your previous three-letter answer as a key. Replace each letter, from left to right, using this complete list:
R means 4. B means 1. G means 3.
Do not sort the new digits. Write the three-digit result: ______.
Tell the host your answer. Keep both sheets and your result for the final page. You may ask for a hint without penalty.

ENVELOPE 3 PLAYER SHEET
THE PAPER GARDEN: A PLACE TO REST
Find the exact three-digit result from the previous stage in this list:
413 — ORCHARD
431 — HARBOR
143 — HILL
Write the word beside your exact code: ______.
Tell the host the word to finish. No outside knowledge is needed. You may ask for a hint without penalty.
END PLAYER MATERIAL

HOST ONLY — SPOILERS; DO NOT COPY INTO ENVELOPES
Release 1 at start. Stage 1 order is Red(1), Blue(2), Green(3), yielding RBG. Release 2 only after that answer.
Stage 2 maps R/B/G to 4/1/3, yielding 413. Release 3 only after that answer.
Stage 3 matches the 413 entry, yielding ORCHARD. Say: “You have reached the paper garden’s orchard. The trail is complete.”
Accept lower case or spaces in an otherwise identical answer. Do not accept a rearranged sequence. On an incorrect answer, keep the next envelope held and offer a hint; no penalty.

THREE-LEVEL HINT LADDER
Stage 1: (1) Start with the smallest dot count. (2) The colour order is Red, Blue, Green; take their first letters. (3) The answer is RBG.
Stage 2: (1) Use the letters in the order you already found. (2) Replace R first, then B, then G; do not sort the digits. (3) The answer is 413.
Stage 3: (1) Match all three digits in order. (2) Look at the entry beginning 413. (3) The final answer is ORCHARD.
Give hints only as requested; start at the least explicit level.

DEPENDENCY MAP
Start → envelope 1 provides cards/instructions → RBG releases envelope 2 → supplied mapping produces 413 → that releases envelope 3 → supplied lookup produces ORCHARD → finish.
No stage needs a clue held in a later envelope. Earlier results remain available because players retain released sheets.

RESET MANIFEST, ALL UNCOMPLETED
[ ] Three envelope fronts labeled 1/2/3, with no answer printed on a front.
[ ] Envelope 1 contains only its player sheet, including all three cards.
[ ] Envelope 2 contains only its player sheet and complete letter mapping.
[ ] Envelope 3 contains only its player sheet and all three lookup entries.
[ ] Clear written answer blanks or use fresh copies; recover all previous copies.
[ ] Keep host key/hints separate from all player material.
[ ] Host holds envelopes 2/3; return to the starting release state.

UNPERFORMED HUMAN GATE
Have an adult unfamiliar with the key try only the material released at each stage. Note any request for unavailable information, ambiguous instruction or accidental spoiler. Then perform the reset and check the manifest again. This is copyable text, not a print-ready file or evidence of a successful playtest.

You’re the final check

Check the worked example.

These checks use the worked example and its particular facts. With your own material, check your actual names, numbers, sources and rules; do not reuse the sample’s values as the answer.

Unsaved checks stay in this tab and reset when you reload. If you choose Save guide, its current example checkmarks are kept in this browser when storage is available.

A few things to watch for.

  • A clue that requires a later locked sheet creates a circular dependency. Track when every piece of information becomes available.
  • A correct host key does not make unclear player instructions usable. Test with someone who has not seen the solution and reset afterward.
